Los torsos están enlazados, y por medio del mecanismo de acción y reacción, se enroscan y desenroscan los cuerpos en espiral, dibujando círculos hacia el infinito y hacia el centro de la tierra, provocando un movimiento energético singular. Simbólicamente similar a la energía kundalini que recorre la columna vertebral enroscándose y desenroscándose verticalmente, pero de a dos y abrazados…
Cada pareja improvisando entra necesariamente en trance, es como una meditación. Meditar significa, simplemente, concentrarse en algo. En brazos o abrazando a otra persona, nos concentramos en agradarnos, complementarnos y fluir por la pista. Por ende se aquieta la mente y como consecuencia, el mundo exterior desaparece. ¿Reconocen esta situación? La milonga misma es un espacio donde permanecemos aislados de lo mundano. La gente raramente habla de problemas allí. La acción masculina y la reacción femenina de la pareja moviéndose en espiral recicla la energía de ambos, libera endorfinas (hormona del placer), eleva la autoestima y nos envuelve una sensación de bienestar y alegría. Cuántas veces hemos llegado agotados y desganados a la milonga y, al escuchar la música y comenzar a bailar, ¡el cansancio desaparece y es reemplazado por entusiasmo y diversión! Esta complementación profunda que se produce a nivel físico, emocional y espiritual en el baile del tango tiene algo de sagrado. Y lo mágico es que cada encuentro, al traer cada persona su particularidad, es único. Cada encuentro tiene su propio adn. Y durante una noche tenemos la posibilidad de experimentar varios encuentros diversos. Y aquí está la gracia de ser mujer. Dado que nuestro rol es adaptarnos a las diversas propuestas de los varones, para nosotras cada vez es absolutamente diferente. El hombre tiene un estilo que prima, aunque cambien las compañeras.
Paralelamente a esto, experimentamos las características del 8, que es también el símbolo del infinito. El movimiento que dibuja el tango es un sinfín de ochos. Más pronunciados o más sutiles, la ondulación que produce juntar los pies en cada cambio de peso describe, hasta en lo que parece una línea recta, una ligera ondulación. Y la simbología del 8 tiene que ver con una corriente recorriendo esa forma de manera continua, que se recicla interminablemente. Literalmente, cuando bailamos tango, cargamos nuestras baterías energéticas.
Creo intensamente que la expansión del baile del tango a nivel planetario es un movimiento que aparece con fuerza en estos momentos apocalípticos para decirnos que el cambio es posible.

Embraced in a spiral

The torsos are connected, and through the mechanism of action and reaction, they wind and unwind in a spiral, drawing circles toward the infinite and toward the center of the earth, causing a movement of singular energy to happen. Symbolically similar to the kundalini energy that travels through the spine curling and uncurling vertically, but as two people, and embraced…
Each couple enters necessarily in a trance while improvising, since it is like a meditation. Meditating means, simply, to concentrate on something. In somebody’s arms or embracing another person, we concentrate on pleasing and complementing each other and on flowing through the dance floor. The mind becomes quiet and as a consequence, the outside world disappears.
Do you recognize this situation? The milonga itself is a space where we are cut off from mundane things. People seldom talk about their problems there. The male action and the female reaction of the couple moving in spirals recycles their energy, releases endorphins (the hormone of pleasure), elevates self-esteem and a sensation of wellbeing and happiness envelops us. How many times have we arrived exhausted and halfhearted to a milonga and upon listening to the music and beginning to dance, the exhaustion disappears and is replaced by enthusiasm and enjoyment! This deep harmonization that takes place at the spiritual, emotional, and physical levels in the dance of tango has a sacred quality to it. And what is magic about these encounters, is that since each person brings his or her own particularity to them, each one is unique. Each encounter has its own DNA. During a night we have various possibilities to experience diverse encounters. And there lies the advantage of being a woman. Given the fact that our role is to adapt to the diverse proposals of the men, for us each time is absolutely different. The man has a style that prevails, although he changes partners.
Parallel to this, we experience the characteristics of the 8 that is also the symbol for infinity. The movements that tango draws are an endless number of ochos. More pronounced or subtler, the wave produced while collecting the feet in each change of weight depicts, even in what may seem a straight line, a slight undulation. The 8 symbolizes energy traveling continuously through its shape, recycling itself endlessly. Literally, when we dance tango, we charge our energy batteries.
I strongly believe that the expansion of tango through the planet is a movement that appears with force in these apocalyptic times to tell us that change is possible.
